Rolex 6605, Very early Rolex Datejust in 18k yellow gold. The watch dates from 1956 and has a ‘brevet’ case and crown. This example has a beautiful black ‘service’ dial with tritium index and gilt writing. The leaf hands also contain no radium but tritium. As Rolex wanted to get rid of ‘radioactive’ material in their watches a lot of dials and hands have been changed during service. The matte black dial is very rare even as a service dial they are very sought after by collectors as these dials give a gentle look to this 18k gold watch.

The case is very strong and the movement runs great, the watch comes on a leather alligator strap with rolex buckle. The wrist size of this Rolex 6605 is  36mm. The watch is powered by an automatic Cal 1065 movement with ‘butterfly’ rotor. The plexi crystal has some scratches
