The Royal Oak is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, it has been introduced in 1972 and has been produced in limited amounts till the end of the 1980’s. This particular example has been sold in 1980, it’s a D series which has been preserved in outstanding condition. The D series is the latest and rarest serie of the 5402 with a production run of only 404 pieces.

The watch has been threaded with a full heritage classic parts service at Audemars Piguet in Le Brassus, it has been fully restored to the original specifications. Audemars Piguet launched a special ‘classic parts’ program for the ref 5402 lately, this is one of the first examples that has been threaded which such a valuable service . Regarding the dial Audemars Piguet stated;

“ It is important to specify that the “Petite Tapisserie” guilloche work was carried out by our Le Brassus workshops, as per the original aesthetics, with its 10 or 11 squares from the center to the window resulting from the fact that the “tapisserie” was randomly off-centered.
The “SWISS” mention has been reproduced.
The dimensions and positioning of the gold indexes, the minute circle, the AP logo at 12 o’clock (polished) as well as the signature, were scrupulously reproduced”

As polishing was not necessary it has not been polished.

It comes with a 2022 authenticity report from the manufacture, the original guarantee booklet from 1980, service box and Audemars Piguet heritage service documents.
