Nivada Grenchen Datomaster
Very rare and attractive chronograph by Nivada Grenchen. This example from 1969 has a handwound chronograph movement with the ‘date’ function at the unusual 12 o’ clock position.
The Nivado Datomaster is highly sought after by collectors and is seems this model has been produced in very limited amounts. With it’s 36mm case size, pump pusher and attractive dial design it’s a very sporty and wearable vintage chronograph. The dial of the watch has been made by ‘Singer’, this company also supplied the Rolex Daytona dial. The layout of the Nivada subdials are look very familiar with the 6263 chronograph dial from Rolex (see pictures)
The case has very much in common with a Heuer Carrera case, its a unique watch which definitely has a 1960’s look allover it. The Nivada Grenchen watches are very popular these days, the Datomaster in one of the ‘under the radar’ watches by Nivada, there are simply not many of these uber cool vintage timepieces around.
