Omega Special production pieces
Special orders for watch brands are known the be extremely rare. From Omega just a very small amount of jewelry pieces exist in the market today. A special order like this example in like new condition can be considered extremely rare. the watch remains in absolute pristine condition and has been fully serviced. The movement dates back to the mid 1970s. Special order Omega watches like this example don’t bear a case number, another very rare example sold here has an extract confirming the movement number being leading and no case number being present, Unfortunately Omega stopped fulfilling the service for getting an extract but of course we deliver this watch with a full guarantee, provenance and history.
The movement
This example is powered by the Omega calibre 620, a hand-wound movement used extensively in Omega’s high jewelry watches of the early 1970s, including the Constellation “Mille et une Nuits” line.
The use of cal. 620, absence of a stamped case number (typical for special jewelry productions), and the distinctive onyx bezel with hard-stone and diamond quadrant dial place this watch squarely within the Mille et une Nuits aesthetic and production context. Period references such as ref. 351.86 and the dual-time BC 351.0040 confirm this shared lineage.
Omega is known for extreme high jewelry watches and accessories. The worked together with various artists like Raymond Munier, Luigi Vignando, Gilbert Albert, Andrew Grima, Franz Bette and many others. We consider this example to be created most likely by Luigi Vignando, he designed multiple unique Omega jewelry watches and ladies jewelry accesoires.
Highlights of this watch:
• Square case with onyx bezel
• Dial divided into four triangular sections:
• Two segments in tiger’s eye
• Two segments fully set with diamonds
• A unique natural detail: within the upper tiger’s eye segment, a visible “8” is naturally formed in the stone — a powerful symbol of luck and prosperity in many Asian cultures
• A design that strongly recalls the bold and extravagant creations of the 1970s, in line with the aesthetic of Piaget and other high-end jewellery houses
• Movement, crown and dial are signed by Omega; the case carries no signature, suggesting this was a special order jewellery creation
