Patek Philippe Ref. 3429 – Retailed by Hausmann & Co. Rome | Pomellato bracelet
A rare early automatic Calatrava in exceptional original condition, executed in 18k yellow gold and powered by Patek Philippe’s upgraded caliber 27-460 AS — the second generation of their self-winding movements. Known for its reliability and refined architecture, this movement marked an important step in the evolution of Patek’s automatic wristwatches.
This particular piece was retailed by Hausmann & Co., the historic Roman jeweler and one of Patek Philippe’s oldest official retailers, with origins dating back to 1794. According to the Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives, the watch was sold on August 25th, 1961 and originally fitted with a leather strap.
What sets this example apart is the custom handmade bracelet, crafted in Milan by the famed jewelry atelier Pomellato. Fully executed in 18k yellow gold and bearing the original Milanese maker’s mark (RC) along with the official 750 hallmark, the bracelet is perfectly integrated with the case — both visually and technically — and offers a rare Italian flourish to an otherwise restrained Swiss classic.
The condition of this 3429 is remarkable throughout: sharp case lines, a pristine dial signed Hausmann, and an untouched presence that’s becoming harder and harder to find in today’s vintage market.
