Introduced in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date has become one of the most iconic and recognizable wristwatches ever created. Known as “The President’s Watch,” it quickly earned its place on the wrists of world leaders, cultural icons, and discerning collectors.
The classic 36mm model is the original gents size till recent years. The 36mmn size remains timeless, versatile, and true to the original proportions of the model. Crafted exclusively (except few ‘protoypes’) in precious metals such as 18k yellow, white, or rose gold and platinum, the Day-Date is a statement of understated luxury.
What sets the Day-Date apart is not only its refined aesthetic but also its technical innovation. It was the first wristwatch to display both the day of the week, spelled out in full, and the date in a single aperture — a defining feature that remains unchanged to this day. This example has best of both worlds, its vintage charm of a tritium dial and classic 36mm case with the technical improvements like a double quick set for day and date and the sapphire crystal making it a waterproof dress watch,
Vintage examples from the 1960s through the 1990s carry a unique charm: warm patinated dials, sharp cases, and bracelets that have aged gracefully over decades. Collectors value early references for their character and rarity, while later models offer exceptional build quality and timeless design.
Whether fitted with a classic champagne dial, a rare stone dial, or a special configuration, each Day-Date tells its own story. More than just a watch, it’s a symbol of personal style, heritage, and timeless sophistication.
