Gübelin Chronograph
Very rare Gübelin chronograph from the 1950’s. Gübelin is a Swiss retailer of luxury watches and gemstones. It is often called the swiss ‘Tiffany en Co.’. Gübelin sold some high end watch brands as Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. Some of this watches where wearing the dealers name on the dial. Watches from Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet wearing the ‘Gübelin’ signature on the dial are very sought after by collectors these days.
In the 1950’s Gubelin sold a very small amount of branded watches with only the name ‘gübelin’ on the dial. These watches where of outstanding quality. This example has a steel round case with a screw back and round pushers. The winding crown is wearing the gubelin logo and t
the radium hands and dial have developed a beautifull aged patina.
Valjoux 22
The movement is a Valjoux 22 based caliber with a two register chronograph. This is the same movement as the valjoux 72 having two registers in stead of three. To understand the value of these watches its important to know that there have not been produced many.
Radium dial
The dial of this rare chronograph has developed a very nice ‘salmon’ colored patina, due to the radium dial and hands.
