Rolex Daytona 6263 Black Sigma dial from 1976
Rolex Daytona 6263 with a black Sigma dial dating back to the mid 1970’s. This is the first execution of the Rolex 6263 with the improved 727 chronometer movement, mk2 screw down pushers and bakelite bezel. This example remains in full original condition with no parts ever changed. The Rolex Daytona 6263 Sigma dial is one of the most popular vintage Daytona watches among collectors for its sporty looks and black and white dial. There is no Daytona signature on the dial, this so called ROC dial only reads, ‘Rolex Oyster Cosmograph’
Rolex Daytona Vintage models
There are various vintage Daytona models, also Rolex kept upgrading their watches during the days. The 6263 Daytona can be considered as the most developed manual wound Daytona. Later models had Daytona written in Red on the dial, the so called big red Daytona, as the one we have sold a while ago which you can see here. Personally speaking I love the 6263 black sigma dial without the Daytona signature the most. With its 4.1mil serial number this could be considered as one of the last mk1 Daytona 6263 models, in this period Rolex started already with production of the later Big Red dials.
Condition
As stated before this Rolex Daytona 6263 stands apart from the crowd since its condition is fully original and extremely well preserved. The beautiful black sigma dial remains in very good condition, minimal flaws like the tritium dot at 3 o clock are common for those dials and it matches well with the overall very honest condition of the watch, the first owner has been wearing the watch, maintained it well and kept it in extremely good and original condition. The mk2 pushers are preserved as well as the original bezel which looks just better than any service bezel. Furthermore the watch has been fully serviced and comes with 1 year guarantee. if you are looking for an excellent Daytona to wear another 50 years this is the one. It comes with an original Rolex box and photo report of the watch.
