Unichron Aviator Chronograph
Beautiful black dial Aviator watch made by Unichron in the 1950’s. The watch has a beautiful aged dial with radium ‘broad arrow’ hands and a Lollipop chronograph hand. The presence of radium is indicated by the ‘Ra Swiss Made Ra’ signature on the dial.
The watch has very much in common with the ‘Nivada Gretchen Chronomaster’ and ‘ Croton Aviator Sea Diver’. They actually share the same dial and hands but are powered by another movement. The brand Unichron is not well known and its difficult / impossible to find a similar model from the same brand. The fact that this watch has a radium dial in stead of a tritium dial indicates that this model has been produced before the Nivada and Croton examples which are probably inspired on this Unichron Aviator Chronograph.
The watch has an impressive 39mm case size. The case is stainless steel with a screwed case back. The steel rotating bezel has an aluminium bezel inlay.
