Description

Rolex 1804 day-date platinum full set 1971 German day

Extremely rare and stunning Rolex day date with the diamond reference 1804. The rolex 1804 in platinum was the most expensive rolex watch during the 1970’s and early 70’s, you could buy one or more decent houses for the price of one platinum 1804.

There are not many examples from the rolex day date produced in platinum in the Plexi crystal era, today the value of platinum is less as gold but in 20th century platinum was extremely expensive and hard to work with.

The condition of the watch is well preserved, the bracelet remains in full length. Both watch and bracelet have been minimally polished, due to the nature of platinum the end links have stretch but we have chosen not to restore the watch to keep it in original condition. The dial remains in beautiful condition with the original tritium hands and lume dots untouched. The bracelet fits till a 20+ cm wrist. All the numbers and hallmarks are crisp and visible as well.

The price of a Platinum Rolex 1804 day date in 1971

As mentioned before the price of a rolex day-date in platina was extremely high back in the days and still. in 1969 the price for a platinum Rolex was 10 times the price of a regular day date and around 50 times the price of a regular date just. You can find a 1969 price list in Dutch guilders here, very interesting.

This rolex day date belonged to a wealthy german family from Regensburg. It comes with the original chronometer paper and documents of sale, as well as the day date catalog from 1971. Furthermore the original box with alligator leather cover (worst time ever we saw this type of box) is still with the watch.

The watch has been fully serviced and comes with 1 year guarantee, don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information about this precious and glamours day date from the early 1970’s
