A like-new example of the 2023 Cartier Tank Cintrée Réédition in 950 platinum, one of just 150 individually numbered pieces produced worldwide. Hand-wound with an ultra-thin calibre and an eggshell cream dial that faithfully echoes the platinum originals of the 1920s, this is among the most elegant dress watches in the modern Cartier catalogue. Accompanied by its original Cartier box. Available now through Vintage Times Amsterdam.
Few wristwatches carry themselves with the quiet authority of the Cartier Tank Cintrée. This is the 2023 platinum Réédition, a limited edition of just 150 individually numbered pieces, presented here in like-new condition on its original black alligator strap. Hand-wound, ultra-thin, and unmistakably Cartier, it is one of the most refined dress watches produced in the modern era.
A Century of the Cintrée in Platinum
The Tank Cintrée first appeared in 1921, two years after the original Tank Normale, and immediately distinguished itself through its elongated, curved case, a shape so radical for its time that it redefined what a wristwatch could look like on the wrist. Cartier produced the first platinum Tank Cintrée in 1923, and it is this specific heritage that the 2023 Réédition commemorates, marking the centenary of that founding platinum example.
The Les Rééditions programme is one of Cartier’s most sought-after initiatives, producing faithful recreations of historically significant pieces in strictly limited numbers for dedicated collectors. The 2023 Tank Cintrée in platinum is the third chapter in a recent series, following the 2021 yellow gold edition and the 2022 Pebble Réédition, and builds on the success of both.
What separates this from a tribute or homage is its authenticity. The proportions – 46.3 mm in length, 23 mm in width – are taken almost directly from the 1920s originals. The brancards, the Roman numerals, the blued pomme hands: all are lifted faithfully from the Cartier archives. Only the calibre has been discreetly updated to meet modern standards of finishing and reliability.
Platinum, Brushed and Polished
Cartier worked carefully with the 950 platinum case to create a dialogue between surface finishes that gives the watch its distinctive visual depth. The vertical brancards, the elongated side rails that define the Tank silhouette, are polished to a mirror finish, while the horizontal case surfaces remain satin-brushed. The result is a case that catches light selectively and reads differently depending on the viewing angle.
At 6.03 mm thick, this 2023 platinum version is actually slimmer than the 2021 yellow gold Réédition (which measured 6.4 mm), made possible by a reworked case architecture and the ultra-thin JLC-based movement inside. The beaded crown at three o’clock is set with a ruby cabochon, a Cartier signature reserved exclusively for platinum models, and the solid platinum caseback is engraved with the individual edition number.
The Dial
The dial is a warm eggshell tone, not a bright white, but a soft cream that shifts subtly in different light conditions and serves as a direct reference to the earliest platinum Cintrées of the 1920s. Classic Cartier railroad tracks frame the chapter ring, and bold black printed Roman numerals mark the hours with characteristic Cartier confidence. The blued steel apple-shaped hands, pomme hands, in Cartier terminology, provide a beautiful tonal contrast against the cream ground, and are one of the most celebrated details in all of Cartier’s Tank family.

Collector Appeal
The Cartier Tank Cintrée Réédition in platinum represents the convergence of three things that define great horological collecting: a historically significant design, precious material, and extreme scarcity. Limited to 150 pieces worldwide and commemorating 100 years of the platinum Cintrée, this is a watch that collectors planned and waited for, and that now rarely surfaces on the secondary market in like-new condition.
