The Rolex Daytona patrizzi dial is called so since Osvaldo Patrizzi discovered that his black dial Daytona 16520 had a miraculous color change on the subdials after he took it out of his safe after several years. The subdials which are originally silver turned into a nice brown color over the years. Since his discovering collectors are referring to these attractive black dials as ‘patrizzi dials’.

It seems that the reason for this discoloration of the subdials is due an error in the ‘zapon’ lacquer used by Rolex for these particular dials. It only appears on Rolex Daytona watches from certain years. This S series Daytona from the mid 1990’s is one of the series which happens to have this effect which looks stunning and is highly appreciated by collectors.

The Rolex 16520 Daytona is one of the most collectible rolex watches these days, its actually the first Daytona model featuring an automatic movement and sapphire crystal, the 4030 caliber used by Rolex is often referred to as the Zenith movement because the movement is based on the famous Zenith El Primero movement. It has been further modified by Rolex and developed by the highest standards of chronograph movements. Condition

The condition of the watch can be considered as very well preserved. Besides the fact it has been fully serviced it remains in very good condition. The lugs remains in perfect shape as well as the bezel and crown protectors. Furthermore the watch remains the original tritium hands and beautiful black patrizzi dial which shows a beautiful patina.
