The Cartier Love – An Icon Since 1969

Created in 1969 by Aldo Cipullo for Cartier New York, the Love bracelet was conceived as a piece of jewellery that locked onto the wrist; a literal expression of commitment and devotion. The iconic screw motifs, which run around the outer edge of the bangle and are tightened and loosened with a dedicated Cartier screwdriver, were not merely decorative: they were the mechanism. The bracelet could only be opened and closed by another person. The idea was romantic, slightly subversive, and immediately irresistible.

Over five decades, the Love bracelet has transcended fashion to become one of the few pieces of modern jewellery with a genuine claim to timelessness. The Small Model Pavé

The small model Love bracelet, introduced in 2016, is a refined evolution of the original: slightly narrower at 3.65mm, and in this pavé configuration, set edge to edge with round brilliant-cut diamonds across the entire outer surface of the gold. The 177 diamonds (0.95 carats in total for size 17) are micro-pavé set with extraordinary precision, the individual stones separated by the smallest possible amount of gold to maximise the continuous diamond surface. The effect, in any light, is a constant, liquid sparkle that the original bangle cannot achieve.

The screw motifs remain fully legible through the diamond setting, and are slightly raised sections in the pavé that maintain the Love bracelet’s signature silhouette even in its most jewel-intensive execution.
