Description
Patek Philippe Amagnetic ref 2509 Calatrava
Patek Philippe Amagnetic Calatrava in yellow gold dating back to 1961. The watch remains in the best condition possible, it comes with the original box, extract of the archives. This is not a regular ref 2509 but one with a 27AM400 Amagnetic manual wound movement. Only a handful of Amagnetic 2509’s are known to the market today.
Amagnetic movement
Welcome to the Amagnetic family! The 27AM400 amagnetic movement differs from the 12/400 movement as it has the Gyromax balance wheel and antimagnetic materials such as beryllium and duo-chrome. This movement is highly resistible for magnetic fields which could disturb the watch movement running precisely. The combination of a highly anti magnetic movement in a waterproof casing is extraordinary which give this highly elegant gents watch a sporty feeling.
Condition
The watch remains in full original and untouched conditon. The raised enamel on the dial is fantastic, the lume on the dial and hands colored evenly to a beautiful brown color.
The watch case remains in perfect condition with a clear and sharp hallmark. The case developed a beautiful pink patina and even the factory sticker is left on the back, furthermore it has the original gold push pins, original claps and strap attached.
For more information about this extremely elegant and technically well developed Patek Philippe Calatrava get in touch with us now. The ref 2509 is one of my personal favourite wristwatches by Patek Philippe together with the 2508 Calatrava and 1463 chronograph. All three references share the highly elegant 35mm Taubert case made by Francois Borgel. With the teardrop shaped lugs these watches are arguably the most elegant wristwatches from the 20th century. Of course only when case and dial are well preserved, it is hard to find a 2509 or 2508 in this condition, I would say impossible with an Amagnetic movement.
