Rolex Datejust 1601 ‘Gilt Dial’

Rolex Datejust from the early 1960’s with an amazing black gilt dial. This Rolex features an unique and beautiful black Gilt Laquer dial. The gold gilt writing on the dial is beautiful as well as the whole watch which has been preserved in very good condition.

This is one of the first Rolex 1601 Datejust watches in gold, it has been made prior 1962 when radium was still used for the luminous material on the dial and hands, the bottom of the dial is signed ‘Swiss’ only. Later examples are signed t Swiss t. Also the early 1601 Datejust watches have a thinner and sharper bezel then later examples which gives the watch an even more elegant look.
